Travel Review: The Carlton

BIG APPLE ICON. Midtown was not always the heart of Manhattan, but that quickly began to change after The Carlton (88 Madison Avenue, New York, 212.532.4100; carltonhotelny.com) , the neighborhood’s first luxury hotel, first opened its doors over a century ago.

Now considered one of the highlights of NoMad (the area North of Madison Square Park), The Carlton has recently been modernized to include all the latest luxury amenities while still retaining all of the venue’s old-world charm. Its relatively secluded location makes it a perfect spot to enjoy a romantic getaway in the city. The Carlton is also the home to Millesime, a superlative seafood brasserie that was named best new restaurant in the city last year by a number of magazines.
