Travel Review: Hotel Indigo Hong Kong Island

INDIGO INNOVATION. The creators of Hotel Indigo Hong Kong Island (242 To 246 Queen’s Road East Wanchai, Hong Kong Sar, Hong Kong; +852 3926 3888; hotelindigo.com)

say it is the culmination of a five year project to create “an architecturally compelling building that is at the forefront of global hotel and environmental design.” The stylish hotel covers 29 floors, with 138 individually styled. Wrapping the building is a striking gold dragon, which functions as an “ecoscreen” to counteract hot spots and solar gain, which the owners say represents the future of environmental design in Hong Kong. The impressive rooftop, sure to be a much talked about destination in Hong Kong, features a sky bar and a dramatic infinity glass bottomed pool from which can be seen the hustle and bustle of the Wan Chai neighbourhood below.
