From the return of a classic to an exciting video game prequel, here’s our pick of this month’s must-watch movies.
Uncharted
Stars Tom Holland, Mark Wahlberg, Sophia Ali, Antonio Banderas
Director Ruben Fleischer
Based on the video game series of the same name, this movie serves a prequel to the games. The story follows Nathan Drake (Tom Holland), a young explorer and bartender, who teams
up with Victor “Sully” Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg) and goes on a dangerous pursuit of “the greatest treasure never found” while also tracking clues that may lead to Drake’s long-lost brother.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Stars Sarah Yarkin, Elsie Fisher, Mark Burnham
Director David Blue Garcia
February 18 sees this beloved horror franchise return yet again. Streaming on Netflix, the new “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” won’t be the first sequel to the seminal classic, but it looks like a back-to- basic approach and a direct sequel to 1974’s “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.” Set about 50 years after the original, Melody (Sarah Yarkin) and her teenage sister Lila (Elsie Fisher) head to Harlow, Texas, to establish a new business. Their dreams of success turn into an unspeakable nightmare when they disturb the home of Leatherface, the notorious killer whose legacy haunts the local residents.
Death on the Nile
Stars Kenneth Branagh, Tom Bateman, Gal Gadot
Director Kenneth Branagh
In this follow-up to the movie “Murder on the Orient Express,” Kenneth Branagh returns as Hercule Poirot, the famed Belgian sleuth. His Egyptian vacation aboard a glamorous river steamer turns into a terrifying search for a murderer when a picture-perfect couple’s idyllic honeymoon is tragically cut short. Poirot is then entrusted with the important task of identifying which one of the passengers is the killer before they strike again.
