With solid victories at the 10th and 11th races of the season, the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team retakes the lead in this year’s ABB FIA Formula E World Championship
The weather in Jakarta, on the weekend of June 3-4, 2023, was nothing short of extreme: Temperatures reached 34C while humidity levels hovered around 70 percent. This was especially palpable at Jakarta International e-Prix Circuit in Ancol, northern Jakarta, where the 10th and 11th rounds of the 2022-23 Formula E season took place.
Despite the harsh conditions, the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team surged ahead to retake the lead in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. To summarize, Pascal Wehrlein won race 10 at the wheel of his Porsche 99X Electric, while António Félix da Costa took eighth place, resulting in the fourth win of the season for the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team.

“That was a terrific day for the team with Pascal’s victory and taking the lead in the world championship. I experienced some problems in qualifying and had to start from far down the grid,” António Félix da Costa commented. “It was very difficult to overtake today, so I’m delighted that I was able to score a few more points for the team. We’re working hard on making it better for me in the second race tomorrow.”
On the second day of the 2023 Jakarta ePrix, Wehrlein finished sixth, followed by da Costa in seventh place. As a result, the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team currently leads in terms of team standing with 212 points after 16 races. For individual drivers, Pascal Wehrlein leads the pack with 134 points and his teammate António Félix da Costa sits in sixth place.

“After my win on Saturday, I’m delighted that I was able to regain the lead in the championship today,” Wehrlein commented after race 11. “Overall, things were a bit more difficult today. I had to start from the dirty side of the track and lost a position right at the start. I tried to move up the field, but it was very difficult to overtake. With the championship in mind, I didn’t want to take too many risks.”
Naturally, Wehrlein and da Costa, along with the entire TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team, is now focused on the upcoming Portland E-Prix on June 24. With their solid lead, proven capabilities and, not to mention, their “don’t crack under pressure” spirit, it’s safe to say that the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team is well on its way to make even more headlines…
