The Long-Awaited Sony Playstation 5 is Finally Here

Sony Interactive Entertainment delivers a console that’s bold, stunning, and unlike any previous generation of PlayStation.

After the postponement of the PlayStation launch event as an act of solidarity towards the ongoing protests in the U.S., Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) finally revealed—for the first time—the new details for the PlayStation 5, including the next-generation console’s design and a deep lineup of brand new games coming to it.

With its bold, two-tone design marking a radical departure from previous PlayStation consoles, the PS5 will launch with two options: a standard model with an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive and a digital model without a disc drive, offering unprecedented choice at launch for gamers.

Sony also provided fans a first look—via livestream—of the new games that will define the next generation of gaming on the PlayStation 5. Across dozens of titles, most of which are launching as console exclusives or full exclusives on the PS5, the lineup includes blockbuster series such as Marvel’s “Spider-Man: Miles Morales,” “Gran Turismo 7” and “Horizon Forbidden West,” along with many other brand new titles from the industry’s top game creators.

In addition to the console’s design, Sony also unveiled the new wireless game controller for the PlayStation 5 called the DualSense. The company has added a built-in microphone array into the game controller, which will enable players to easily chat with friends without a headset. Along with the PS5’s Tempest 3D AudioTech, it will deliver a new feeling of immersion to players. The game controller itself is completed with a two-toned white and black design .
