This year, the disruptive and audacious Bulgari Aluminium collection welcomes a series of new references and limited-edition pieces to its lineup
When it was first introduced in 1998, the Bulgari Aluminium family presented something truly novel with its (at the time) unexpected combination of aluminum and rubber. It was audacious and reliable, casual and elegant. Then, not too long ago in 2020, the collection took another step forward by adopting mechanical self-winding movements. And today, the Bulgari Aluminium stands out once again with an exciting lineup of colorful new models, including some highly-collectible limited-edition releases…
BULGARI ALUMINIUM CHRONOGRAPH
in WHITE and BLACK
Arguably the most iconic model in the Bulgari Aluminium collection, the Aluminium Chronograph returns this year in two new colorways: the classic black-and-white setup and an all-black model. Both are presented in a 41mm case and a new chronograph movement.
Both models look particularly sporty with their black rubber bezels featuring the double BVLGARI logo along with the collection’s iconic rubber strap. Other notable design elements include the caseback, crown and chronograph pushers in DLC-coated titanium and the silvered chronograph seconds hand with red tip. And at the heart of these two Aluminium Chronograph models is the calibre B381 self-winding mechanical movement that ensures precise timekeeping and a solid 42-hour power reserve.
The Bulgari Aluminium Chronograph has always been a strong presence in the realm of sporty mechanical watches, and its two new iterations—one more traditional, the other sleek and sophisticated—ensure that the model remains a top choice for classy but sporty gents.
BULGARI ALUMINIUM CAPRI
SOLOTEMPO and CHRONOGRAPH
The island of Capri, in Italy’s Bay of Naples, is famous for its natural landscape, its resorts and shopping venues—and also for the color blue. It is home to the famous Blue Grotto and is surrounded by the blue expanse of the Tyrrhenian Sea. Inspired by this enchanted island and the faraglioni rock formations off its coast, Bulgari created the Bulgari Aluminium Capri Edition which encompasses two versions: a solotempo (time and date) model and a chronograph reference, both as limited-editions of 1,000 pieces each.
The Bulgari Aluminium Capri Solotempo and the Bulgari Aluminium Capri Chronograph are presented in 40 aluminum cases housing a shaded blue dial with luminescent hands. A unique highlight of these limited-edition pieces is an engraving of Capri’s Faraglioni engraved on the caseback. Similar to the Aluminium Chronograph, the casebacks of the Bulgari Aluminium Capri Edition watches are crafted in DLC-coated titanium. On the technical side of things, the Capri Solotempo model is powered by the trusty calibre B77 mechanical automatic movement, while the Capri Chronograph features the calibre B130.
For the final touch, both the Bulgari Aluminium Capri Solotempo and Capri Chronograph come in special aluminum-and-rubber presentation box featuring a beautiful shade of blue. The chronograph version naturally offers a sportier take on the theme while the solotempo model feels much more casual; and both Bulgari Aluminium Capri Edition references offer a sublime blend of cool colors and elegant timekeeping.
BULGARI ALUMINIUM MATCH POINT EDITION
After black-and-white and Capri blue, we come to green with the Bulgari Aluminium Match Point Edition. As its name implies, this reference is inspired by the world of tennis, especially the casual style and modern aesthetic associated with the sport.
This new reference is instantly recognizable for its green elements, particularly on the rubber bezel and rubber strap, which features a unique Velcro fastener. The 40mm aluminum case houses a white dial accented with green luminescent hands and indexes with a yellow luminescent dot. Underneath the dial sits the calibre B77 mechanical movement. And speaking of the movement, another unique and hard-to-miss feature is the Match Point Edition’s left-hand crown.
The tennis theme continues on the caseback, which showcases a tennis ball engraving, and with the watch’s presentation box. Crafted in aluminum and rubber, the box sports the same material and color as an actual tennis ball.
Only 800 pieces of the Bulgari Aluminium Match Point Edition is available, adding a touch of exclusivity to this sporty reference. Meant to be worn both in the clubhouse and on the court, this is a definite top pick for tennis enthusiasts.
