The Dior x Rimowa Collection Will Trigger Your Wanderlust

To celebrate the worldwide pre-launch of the Dior and Rimowa capsule collection, the maison hosted a cocktail on Thursday, October 24, at Dior’s new store at Champs-Elysées.

Like promises of new horizons, clouds float by, their captivating reflections hovering over the scene and illuminating the store. Echoing the artistic director of Dior Men’s collections Kim Jones’s passion for travel, a real helicopter clad in Rimowa’s signature aluminum gray and specially customized for this event welcomes guests. The cockpit’s interior and seats are upholstered in the emblematic Dior oblique canvas created by Marc Bohan in 1967.

An ode to the lightness, movement, and spirit of modernity brought to the house by Kim Jones, the installation is an invitation to escape, to be discovered from October 24 to November 13 in Paris, before traveling to the Parco department store in Tokyo and Shin Kong place in Beijing.

This ephemeral space premieres the Dior and Rimowa ‘cabin’ and ‘trunk’ suitcases as well as the ‘hand case’ hand luggage, all accented with the signature Dior Oblique motif in silver, matte black, and gradient blue. Available in blue, black, silver, or pink, the ‘personal’, a supremely portable aluminum case, features a leather cross-body strap embossed with ‘Christian Dior’ and an interior equipped to carry keepsakes and accessories.

Exclusive, special order items such as an elegantly functional ‘champagne case’ reflect Kim Jones’ modern spirit. Designed to hold one bottle of champagne, the case features a leather handle and an interior outfitted to hold six Dior Maison champagne flutes.

Forged with excellence of savoir-faire, this Dior and rRimowa capsule collection uses a combination of innovative processes to inscribe color directly into the aluminum to create indelible vibrant hues. Each piece comes encased in a protective slipcover or a precious box entirely covered with clouds.
