Half a month on from its unveiling at Watches and Wonders Geneva 2026, the TAG Heuer Monaco Evergraph has settled into the market with a quiet confidence. It is not a watch that leans on spectacle alone. Instead, it makes a more compelling case on the wrist—where its rethinking of the chronograph is felt as much as it is seen.
At the heart of the Evergraph is a new movement, the Calibre TH80-00, built around a radically different approach to how a chronograph operates. Traditional systems rely on an intricate choreography of levers and springs to start, stop and reset the timing function. Here, those components are largely replaced by flexible elements engineered to shift between positions with precision. The result is a chronograph that feels distinctly sharper in action—each press of the pusher is clean, consistent and resistant to the subtle degradation that can occur over years of use. It is a technical shift, certainly, but more importantly, it is one that translates directly into the daily experience of wearing the watch.

That sense of consistency extends beyond tactility. The movement runs at a high frequency of 5 Hz and is COSC-certified, with a 70-hour power reserve and enhanced resistance to magnetic interference. On paper, these are impressive metrics; in practice, they reinforce the idea that the Evergraph is designed not just as a showcase of innovation, but as a chronograph meant to be used regularly and relied upon over time.
Visually, the Evergraph builds on the Monaco’s unmistakable identity while pushing it into more contemporary territory. The square case—still a rarity in the world of mechanical chronographs—has been refined in Grade 5 titanium, lending it a lighter, more wearable presence without sacrificing its architectural character. Subtle adjustments to the case profile improve ergonomics, allowing it to sit more naturally on the wrist, while retaining the sharp, almost brutalist edges that have long defined the Monaco.

It is a visually engaging approach, but not one that feels gratuitous; instead, it underscores the idea that the mechanics themselves are central to the watch’s appeal.
Despite these forward-looking elements, the Evergraph remains anchored in the Monaco’s legacy. The left-positioned crown—a hallmark of the original 1969 model—returns here, along with the bold square silhouette that once challenged conventional watch design. While TAG Heuer’s history in chronographs stretches back well over a century, the references are handled with restraint, serving as a foundation rather than the focal point.
