The fresh additions to the brand’s ultimate luxury tool watch are finally here
During this year’s Watches and Wonders Geneva event, avant-garde Swiss watch brand TAG Heuer unveiled the new generation model of its iconic Aquaracer collection. Titled the Aquaracer Professional 300, the watch comes with a striking and instantly recognizable aesthetic, including the updated Aquaracer collection’s six signature features.
Following the launch of this new generation model, TAG Heuer also announced three additions to the go-anywhere family of watches, including a new iteration of a TAG Heuer icon: the all-black, lume-dialled Aquaracer Professional 300 Night Diver. On this note, the latest Aquaracer Professional 300 drop adds three models to the eight announced earlier this year, for a total of 11 references.
The Trio of Time
Aesthetically, the latest black and blue versions of the new Aquaracer Professional 300 models pick up on the bracelet models introduced at Watches and Wonders, as both are color-themed with matching black or blue sunray brushed dials, while sporting ceramic bezel inserts and also rubber straps.
The standout model of the release is arguably the black DLC-coated Night Diver, joining the Aquaracer Professional 300 Tribute to Ref. 844 as the collection’s hero pieces.
Design-wise, the stainless-steel case, bezel, crown, caseback and clasp are all coated in matt black diamond-like carbon—known as DLC, a high-performance, hard-wearing finish designed for use in extreme conditions—while the bezel insert is made of a highly resistant black ceramic.
Furthermore, the Night Diver’s other signature feature is its fully luminescent dial, which is coated in green Super-LumiNova to deliver exceptional glow-in-the-dark performance. To ensure ultimate legibility in extreme low-light conditions, the watch’s minute and central seconds hands are also filled with blue lume to contrast with the green of the dial.
All three new models are non-limited and go into the core collection. They are all powered by the brand’s Calibre 5 automatic, stamped with the famous scaphander diving suit on the case-back, and are water-resistant to 300 meters. On top of that, each of these models comes with a 43mm stainless steel case and a rubber strap equipped with TAG Heuer’s innovative adjustable folding clasp.
Details in the Fabric
Speaking about TAG Heuer’s innovative adjustable folding clasp, each of the new Aquaracer Professional 300 references also comes with a beautifully engineered integrated rubber strap. The straps will be cut to length as part of a fitting process, and the wearer will then have the freedom to adjust their strap to accommodate a wetsuit, or simply to reflect changes in ambient conditions that make the wrist expand or contract.
Developed by TAG Heuer’s engineers, this fine-tuning system is used by pinching and sliding the button on the side of the clasp. The clasp also features double safety push-buttons that prevent it from being unlocked by accident.
Most importantly, the detailing doesn’t stop there. As with the eight pieces in the launch collection, these three new references also pick up on the aforementioned six signature features that have defined TAG Heuer dive watches since 1983: A unidirectional rotating bezel, a screw-down crown, water resistance to at least 200m, luminous markings, a scratch-resistant crystal and a double safety clasp.
Mind you, all this is set against the backdrop of the Aquaracer’s dial with its trademark horizontally engraved lines up front, along with the 12 sides of the bezel which are all faceted for grip, and the crown which is protected to prevent accidental damage. If anything, these real-world functions became the model’s design pillars and have been reassuring underwater explorers for almost four decades.
Overall, the introduction of these three new Aquaracer Professional 300 references wonderfully round out this year’s collection of 11 high-performance watches, as it emerges with a bright new look and retains as well as improves signature details to produce a refined, highly versatile modern classic.
Designed for divers, adventurers and urban explorers who want to go beyond the edge, push their limits, and to get to the place where they find themselves, this new collection continues another chapter in TAG Heuer’s luxury tool watch story with robust, exceptionally detailed, versatile and high-performing pieces boasting an unmistakably luxurious feel.
