The New Year’s festivities signaling the transition from 2023 to 2024 is just around the corner, but Swiss luxury watchmaker TAG Heuer is also looking at another new year that follows—the next Lunar New Year which falls on February 10, 2024. And according to the Chinese zodiac, the upcoming lunar year is the Year of the Dragon, with the mystical serpent being closely associated with power and charisma—characteristics that perfectly align with TAG Heuer’s spirit.
So, to mark this momentous year, TAG Heuer presents two limited-edition timepieces: The TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph, Year of the Dragon in stainless-steel and rose gold.

As proper Carrera Chronograph models, these festive timepieces bring TAG Heuer’s heritage in racing and motorsports to life; at the same time, they also pay homage to the mystical dragon amid a medley of elements taken from Chinese culture. There’s the central red lacquered hand, the calligraphic dragon character at 6 o’clock and—most impressively—the figure of the dragon that is printed on the sapphire glass of the caseback.

Other noteworthy visual elements of the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph, Year of the Dragon include the two red “azuré” subdials at 3 and 9 o’clock and the sunray-brushed dial (silver for the steel version and 18K 5N rose gold-plated for the rose gold version), which together mirror the famed reserve panda layout.
On the flip side of the watch, besides the coiling dragon, the intricate details of the Calibre Heuer 02 movement are also displayed, along with two engravings: “Limited Edition” and either “One of 300” for the steel version or “One of 50” for the rarer rose gold version, indicating their respective limited runs.

Two more elements in red complete the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph, Year of the Dragon. The first is the red alligator leather strap, the second is special presentation box for the watches. The latter comes in a hue that matches the red elements on the watches themselves and feature the Chinese Dragon symbol in an elegant beige.
It’s hard to understate the significance of the year of the dragon in Chinese culture; and amazingly, TAG Heuer has created a festive timepiece that beautifully embraces the spirit of the occasion while paying homage to its traditional roots.
