Two years ago, TAG Heuer expanded its iconic Aquaracer collection by adding, among others, <a href="https://daman.co.id/tag-heuer-expands-its-aquaracer-professional-300-collection">the very first Solargraph model</a>—which, as its name implies, is the brand’s very first solar-powered watch. And unsurprisingly, <a href="https://daman.co.id/lvmh-watch-week-2023-highlights-from-tag-heuer">this new line made another strong showing in 2023</a>. And now, at this year’s edition of LVMH Watch Week in Miami, a new lineup of Aquaracer Professional 200 Solargraph watches has been unveiled.

For 2024, the Solargraph watches pay tribute to the adventurous spirit of the Aquaracer series. This iconic and arguably legendary collection dates back to 1978 with the Heuer Reference 844, designed by Jack Heuer himself. It wasn’t until 2004, however, that the name “TAG Heuer Aquaracer” became official. Then, as mentioned earlier, 2022 saw the debut of the Aquaracer Solargraph in a 40mm case and a carbon bezel. A titanium version was then launched in 2023, and for this year, a new, more elegant 34mm version is introduced.

More importantly, the 2024 release of the Aquaracer Professional 200 Solargraph features five dial variations. Two models, meant primarily for everyday use, come in TAG Heuer’s iconic Aquaracer Polar Blue and the brand’s signature blue tone. New to the series, however, are a range of mother-of-pearl dials which add a new dimension of elegance to the Solargraph design.

Incorporating mother-of-pearl on the dial of a solar-powered watch presents a unique challenge, as the Calibre TH50-01 movement powering these new Aquaracer Solargraph models require sunlight to filter through a semi-transparent dial. To that end, TAG Heuer managed to adapt the material in a way that both retains its unique visual characteristics while also allowing light to pass through. A further three variations of the Aquaracer Professional 200 Solargraph with mother-of-pearl dials are now available: A sleek model, one with diamonds on the indexes and one with diamonds on the indexes as well as on the bezel.
Besides the new 34mm case and the new dial variations, the 2024 Solargraph watches also include a host of more subtle design changes. The bezel, for one, now comes with trapezoidal shape riders, which aligns nicely with the trapezoidal indexes on the dial. Another interesting detail is exclusive to the versions with the mother-of-pearl dial and diamonds: In these versions, the triangle at 12 o’clock (which is part of TAG Heuer’s unique aesthetic code) features a 1.8mm diamond that’s perfectly positioned to emphasize the shape’s brilliance.

Above everything else, the defining trait of the TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 200 Solargraph is its ability to harness the sun’s energy. The Calibre TH50-01 quartz movement—which is produced exclusively for TAG Heuer in collaboration with the Manufacture La Joux-Perret in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland—can power a Solargraph watch for an entire day after being exposed to the sun for two minutes. It can be fully-charged after less than 40 hours under the sun, which then allows the movement to run for up to 10 months. And if the movement after stops, ten seconds of light is all it needs to start up again. It can even charge itself using artificial light.
