Jacquemus honors his roots with the SS26 Le Paysan Collection

Simon Porte Jacquemus’ rural upbringing in the Provençal countryside sets a poetic stage for his latest collection

Jacquemus’ Spring/Summer 2026 Le Paysan collection is a heartfelt tribute to Simon Porte Jacquemus’ childhood in southern France, where his modest farming background helped shape his creative identity. Less known, but deeply meaningful, is the encouragement he received from his father and grandfather—both farmers—who were the first in his family to support his fashion ambitions.

These intimate family connections came to life at L’Orangerie in the Château de Versailles, where the collection was unveiled. The show opened with a video of a young boy running through the countryside, a visual echo of Jacquemus’ own youth. True to its name—Le Paysan translates to “The Peasant”—the collection emphasized honest simplicity through natural fabrics like cotton and linen. Accessories drew from everyday rural life, with nods to tablecloths, aprons, and headscarves.

Rustic elegance permeated the menswear offering, which included structured tops, crisp poplin shirts, voluminous skirts, tailored suits, and coordinated sets. The styling felt quietly assured, with layered silhouettes that spoke to a grounded, relaxed spirit. The palette leaned toward soft, muted tones—ivory, cream, and black—punctuated by calming shades of blue, pink, and yellow.

Further grounding the theme were rural-inspired accessories: Arlésienne-style shawls, espadrilles, and mesh flats conjured pastoral daydreams. Playful elements also emerged, with handbags and jewelry shaped like freshly picked strawberries and leeks. Among the standout pieces was a new handbag, Le Valerie—named in honor of Jacquemus’ mother.
