After stepping away from Y/Project in September 2024, Belgian designer Glenn Martens has officially been named the creative director of Maison Margiela. He succeeds John Galliano, who led the house for a decade before departing in December.

Martens, who first gained recognition after founding his own label, rose to prominence at Y/Project, where he joined in 2013. His experimental designs and unconventional approach quickly established him as a “radical innovator,” catching the attention of OTB Group and Diesel. In 2022, he was appointed creative director of Diesel.

Expressing his enthusiasm for this new chapter, Martens shared on Instagram: “I am deeply honored to join the incredible Maison Margiela, a truly unique house that has inspired the world for decades.”
