One of the latest releases by Seiko, the Presage Classic Series “Craftsmanship” Enamel Dial SPB537, stands as a poetic tribute to Japan’s enduring watchmaking heritage. At its core is a tonneau-shaped case – a rare barrel-shaped silhouette and the only example of its kind within the current Presage lineup.
Set within the stainless-steel case is a pristine white enamel dial, meticulously crafted by master artisan Mitsuru Yokosawa and his protégé Kazunori Uchiyama. Achieving its luminous finish demands a glaze formulated to withstand subtle variations in humidity and temperature, resulting in a surface designed to endure for generations.
The design takes its cues from the “Timekeeper,” Seiko’s first pocket watch introduced in 1895. Classical Roman numerals, a railway-track minute ring and a 24-hour sub-dial at six o’clock evoke 19th-century refinement while preserving modern precision. Blued hands create a crisp contrast against the white enamel, enhancing both legibility and balance. Finished with an elegant five-row bracelet that wears comfortably on the wrist, the SPB537 captures a considered harmony of technical mastery and artisanal expression.
MOVEMENT
The watch is powered by the Caliber 6R5H, which features a 24-hour sub-dial at six o’clock and offers a power reserve of three full days, or 72 hours
