Coachella 2020 was due to take place this April but, like so many other major events, it had to be postponed for six months due to the still-going COVID-19 pandemic. So, we’ve listed some of the best-dressed celebrities spotted at the festival just in case you want to re-plan your Coachella outfit for the new festival dates in October.
The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, or just Coachella for short, is no doubt one of the year’s most anticipated events. Like so many other events, however, it had to be postponed due to the still-going COVID-19 pandemic. It was initially scheduled to be held this April until it was announced last March that it will take place in October, instead—and that is if the pandemic is hopefully over.
This year’s edition of Coachella has sparked a huge amount of interest as it offers two main attractions: The reunion of Rage Against The Machine alongside K-Pop icon Big Bang as it headliners. It goes without saying that people couldn’t wait to dress up for the occasion.
Since Coachella might still happen this year, and considering everyone has probably prepped their summer outfits, take a look at some of DA MAN approved best dressed or styled celebrities spotted at Coachella over the past few years just in case you want to re-plan your Coachella outfit for October—or to inspire you if you haven’t prepped anything yet.
Toronto-based singer and songwriter Abel Tesfaye, who is better known under his performing name The Weeknd, was spotted with then-girlfriend Selena Gomez wearing what looks like a purple-dyed reconstructed shirt. Patterned or printed shirts have become a cliched yet somewhat everlasting staple at Coachella; but since he was wearing a shirt that had sustainability in mind, it was a subtle and of course eco-friendly way of being different.
As we mentioned earlier, patterned and or printed shirts have become the favorite go-to outfit for Coachella. But over the past few years, there has been a new crowd favorite slash sub genre of the eponymous get-up: Matching printed shirts and shorts. Pop icon Justin Bieber was one of the most recent big celebrities to rock the style back in Coachella 2018.
Coachella is known as a summer festival, and weather wise (among other things), it can get really hot. American actor and singer Quincy Brown opted for a super relaxed color coordinated outfit by throwing on a Japanese style robe while being shirtless underneath, finished with crisp white sneakers for extra comfort. This is without doubt one of the most heat-proof and exceptionally stylish choices for those heading to Coachella this October.
Instead of a shirt, why not go for printed or patterned pants? Jared Leto was seen in Coachella 2014 with zebra motif pants. The Jesus of Coachella is also a regular of the annual event, and what’s also a regular is his flannel shirt that’s turned into an accessory.
While sporting an ordinary outfit, Cody Simpson manages to max his coolness to a whole new level back in Coachella 2015 thanks to an exceptionally strong wild wild west-inspired accessory game. For starters, the sunglasses and a sleek fedora gave off strong Johnny Depp vibes. But it’s the leather buckle and his fringe leather poncho with a bolo tie that really makes his look a big, big fit.
Sporting an all-black getup looking like a classic Western baddie (minus the cowboy-approved vest), rapper and musician G-Eazy shows in 2016 that Coachella isn’t always about bright colors—its about comfortably expressing your own style from the bottom of your heart (Eazy really loves the color black, FYI). He probably also realizes that his looks might get too formal for the super laid back festival, hence the ripped jeans.
One of the hardest things in life is getting a proper photo of Travis Scott, especially having him looking straight at the camera instead of at the ground. An easier thing to do is searching for a photo of Scott in a great outfit. Any hip hop fan can tell you that the rapper is currently one of the greatest—if not the greatest—trend-setting shoe collaborator around. While his 2019 Coachella look may seem like the usual rapper getup at a glance, look below and you’ll see Travis rocking mismatched shoes. This year’s Coachella might be the perfect time and place to try something new by following in his footsteps.
Stand out from the rest of the crowd with an all-white get up—and become the brightest person in Coachella. Rapper, song-writer and recording executive Pusha T did just that with a clean white outfit from Craig Green in his 2019 Coachella set. If you happen to opt for a plain white look from top to bottom, let some gold accessories do the head turning for that extra flair—that is if you don’t think that the outfit would do enough of it.
Last but not least, if you’re not really into the whole dressing-up-for-Coachella thing, a shirt and some dad shades will do just fine since it’s a style approved by Hollywood’s living icon and legend Clint Eastwood. Enough said.
