German microbrewed beer with German sausages in the heart of Jakarta, all at Paulaner Brauhaus.
Located in the award-winning Kempinski Hotel Indonesia, the Paulaner Brauhaus German microbrewery is a godsend for pork lovers and beer lovers and their families.
After hearing about this over a year ago, getting overly excited and then enduring numerous postponements of the opening, the Paulaner Brauhaus(Hotel Indonesia Kempinski, 62-21/2358-3800) finally is on tap.
The German micro-brewery has opened several such “beer houses” in other major cities in Asia (Beijing, Shanghai, Singapore) to rave reviews. This edition is massive, but the highlight is the excellent beer—possibly the best beer in town. They have a dark and light version and both are quite tasty and, surprisingly, not too heavy.
But it’s not just about beer, there is also some great German fare. The on-site brewmaster will make sure you are sated by home-brewed “Weizen” brews (in mugs as big as one liter!). The prices are on the same level as you’d expect in Germany, but the quality is worth it, and they are planning to do special “buy 1, get 1” nights on weekdays for different groups, such as businesspeople, media, etc.
