A tribute to the ’80s from a Japanese lens, the fall/winter 2022 collection of Onitsuka Tiger pairs Western aesthetics with the Japanese concept of purity and austerity.
It is a genderless collection, further informed by dark tones, austere appearances and layering—a basic element in Japanese ceremonial dress. Key pieces in this capsule include oversized T-shirts made of heavy cotton and kaftans embellished with embroidery. Also in the collection are waistcoats, nylon jackets, Bermuda pants and a series of balaclavas. The house has also presented two footwear models in the collection, the DELEGATION CHUNK and the ACROMOUNT KNIT. The first is a boot-style creation featuring glossy nylon and suede upper with a high sole, while the latter boasts a minimalist design with a subtle print accent.
