In time with his 30th Birthday, tennis player Novak Djokovic has just announced that he will be partnering up with French sports clothing brand Lacoste to be the “new-croc” on the court. The iconic crocodile of Lacoste itself originates from legendary tennis player, René Lacoste who was given the nickname “the crocodile” for winning seven Grand Slam titles back in the 1920s. Currently ranked number two in men’s singles tennis, the Serbian player has 12 Grand Slam titles to his name, exceeding that of the Lacoste founder.
The announcement also comes after Djokovic ended his five-year contract with Japanese fast fashion brand Uniqlo. The tennis player has agreed to be the new face of Lacoste, not only being featured in various advertising campaigns, but to also wear its new designs while playing on the court. The aptly named “Novak Djokovic performance collection” is set to debut during the French Open where Djokovic will not only show off his new on-court attire, but also display his new tennis skills after training under new coach, the legendary Andre Agassi.
His collection is said to be available for purchase, sometime this month and will feature pique polo shirts done in hues of blue, white, red and one with a graphic print. The collection will also include white and black shorts, a khaki blazer, trousers and a zip jacket.
So, if you think your Supreme x Lacoste collaboration collection is getting a little dated, you may want to go full sporty and get Djokovic’s upcoming performance collection.
