WONDERING WANDERER. Celebrating aimless wandering and idleness sounds counterintuitive in today’s ever-busy world. Hermès, however, believes otherwise. With “flâneur forever” as this year’s theme, the brand captures the spirit and lifestyle of an eclectic wanderer through various elements.
One of them is an exhibition fittingly titled “Wanderland” in the Saatchi Gallery, London, which invited guests to wander through 11 rooms filled with installations and curious objects made by different artists. Curated by Bruno Gaduichon, the exhibition is inspired by artistic director Pierre-Alexis Dumas’ great grandfather Émile Hermès, who was a flâneur himself. Highlights include a Parisian passage created by set designer Hubert le Gall, a graffiti room from London street artist Cept and an eerie “rear-window” room. The exhibition is scheduled to travel to Paris in September.
