Raiding the block. Directed by Gareth Evans and starring Joe Taslim, Indonesia-made blockbuster THE RAID (Serbuan Maut) is set for its Indonesia debut in theaters nationwide on March 23, 2012
Already garnering International acclaim at the film festivals around the world (particularly in Toronto), Indonesia-made The Raid (Serbuan Maut) was directed by UK-born Gareth Evans (Merantau).
The action-thriller about a SWAT-like team battling to get a building full of well-armed thugs under control, has some of the most intense and realistic fight scenes ever seen on the big screen. The reason for such realism is simple: nearly all of the hand-to-hand combat was real, not staged.
It stars Iko Uwais (Merantau)—and as a Pencak Silat artist, was also the film’s choreographer—Ray Sahetapy (Dunia Mereka), Joe Taslim (Rasa), who was a medal-winning Judo star before he started acting, and Donny Alamsyah (Darah Garuda).
Hitting theaters in Indonesia on March 23, 2012, this could well be the film that puts Indonesian cinema on the global map.
The movie also features music by Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park.
