What has some fans raising their eyebrows is the fact that they are turning the relatively slim novel into another trilogy of films. Whereas Jackson had to cut out significant sections of the Lord of the Rings novels to fit them all into his films, filmmakers will no doubt have to invent new scenes to fill out The Hobbit trilogy.

He is joined by a band of merry dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield. This first installment will hopefully prove that the trip back to Middle Earth is one worth taking.
