Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. The final movie in the Potter franchise, starring Daniel Radcliffe, Tom Felton, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Alan Rickman, Helena Bonham Carter and Ralph Fiennes, is a treat for the senses. While it has already had its global premiere and lots of parties, it has not yet opened in the 4th-largest nation on earth, Indonesia. But it will be opening very soon, limited screenings begin Friday, July 29.
After more than a decade of Harry Potter films, the wildly successful franchise has finally come to its climactic finale and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 is supposedly the last. Picking up straight from where Part 1 left off, our three not-so-little heroes travel back to Hogwarts to locate and destroy the last of Lord Voldemort’s horcruxes.
Just a hairbreadth behind them is the dark lord himself who is willing to go to any length to prevent the trio from completing their mission. Out of all the eight movies produced based on the novels, this is the only one entirely in 3-D.
In terms of the story, well no real big surprises there and the film, while being quite a spectacle, is at times lost in all of that sorcery, gray mists and breathless battles. That said, it’s still very good and watchable even for people who are not one of the so-called “Potter-istas.” In short, it’s not a mind-blowingly revelatory piece of filmmaking, but it is an event to behold; something that really should be experienced at least once in life.
While the movie is a visual delight for all Potter-istas, it’s also a historic milestone for the decade-long franchise. Here are some images of what they looked like in the first film of the franchise… wow!
