The two luxurious brands teamed up to launch their latest collaboration in a writing instrumenta tribute to the marque’s new model in the Icona series: the Ferrari Daytona SP3.
Montblanc and Ferrari collaborated to launch the new Montblanc Ferrari Stilema SP3 Limited Edition 599 writing instrument. This new generation of writing tools was co-designed under the direction of Flavio Manzoni, Ferrari’s Chief Design Officer and presented at Montblanc Haus in Hamburg.
Montblanc Ferrari Stilema SP3 Limited Edition 599 pays homage to the architecture, proportions, surfaces, volumes and aerodynamics that make every Ferrari car instantly recognizable. This is also known as a stilema, which is shorthand for the characteristic of a design that its creator possesses.
“While a writing instrument has a completely different function and construction to a car, our aim was to create a writing instrument that perfectly aligned with the philosophy and design language of the Prancing Horse, even before its technical qualities were revealed. Together with Flavio, we have defined a new family of writing instruments that seamlessly merge both Ferrari and Montblanc identities, pushing boundaries of design and innovation within our respective industries,” says Nicolas Baretzki, Montblanc CEO.
The Daytona SP3 is a supercar from Ferrari’s limited edition Icona that has a timeless design with a harmonious interplay of contrasting, sculpturally sublime, voluptuous surfaces and aerodynamic type of lines. This inspired the Montblanc Ferrari Stilema SP3 to express the car’s fluid shape by using a single material for the cap and barrel. The cap’s angle, rendered in lightweight titanium to symbolize the car’s nose slices and the forepart’s line accents were taken from the bumpers’ blades. That gives this pen a silhouette of light and dark with bars that seem to vanish.
While the design is distinctly Ferrari, the “engine” of this pen is assuredly Montblanc, with its handcrafted Au 750 solid white gold nib featuring a special “SP3” engraving and the iconic Prancing Horse is also laser-etched on the cap. It’s also complemented by a newly positioned hidden filling mechanism, which gave it a sleek silhouette and made the Montblanc Ferrari Stilema SP3 primed for the starting line and ready to write.
Only 599 pieces of the Montblanc Ferrari Stilema SP3 Limited Edition are available worldwide.
