Piaget enriches its iconic Piaget Polo collection with the one of the most emblematic complications along with an exciting expression featuring bold gemstones

This year, for the first time ever, the iconic Piaget Polo collection welcomes a model featuring the perpetual calendar—an emblematic complication in which Piaget has developed considerable expertise in, as seen in some of the maison’s other watch lines. Named the Piaget Polo Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin, this timepiece—at just 8.65mm thick overall—is a testament to the brand’s commitment to innovation and craftsmanship.
This stunning new model showcases one of watchmaking’s most emblematic complications encased in the iconic Polo design, evocatively complemented by a moon-phase display. It radiates an unmistakable aura of distinction that resonates with the Piaget spirit of shared joy, sophistication and extravaganza.
Appearance-wise, the Piaget Polo Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin incorporates three sub-dials for the date, month (with a leapyear indicator), weekday at the 9, 12 and 3 o’clock positions, followed by the moon-phase indicator at 6 o’clock. As a whole, it has a dark emerald-green dial with a gadroon pattern.

In keeping with Piaget’s traditional design language, the sub-dials include Super Luminova indexes and a variety of finishes that enhance visual depth. The gadroons that have been a part of the Piaget Polo trademark since 1979 are still present in the case. Still, the reappearance of the gadroons on the bracelet reinforces the aesthetic link between the newgen Piaget Polo and its predecessors.
Now, Piaget has built quite a reputation in developing and manufacturing ultra-thin components, as well as in developing ultrathin movements. For the new 1255P ultrathin 4mm calibre employed in this watch, the Luminova indexes and a variety of finishes that enhance visual depth. “From its iconic design to its flamboyant dial colors, this stand-outfrom-the-crowd unisex icon in gold or steel is a statement of the maison’s unique watchmaking mastery”
Now, Piaget has built quite a reputation in developing and manufacturing ultra-thin components, as well as in developing ultrathin movements. For the new 1255P ultrathin 4mm calibre employed in this watch, the Manufacture drew on the ultra-thin 1200P caliber with its extreme slimness and proven reliability while adding the Perpetual Calendar with a moon-phase mechanism.
Besides the perpetual calendar model, another Piaget Polo was released at Watches and Wonders Geneva earlier this year—one that fuses horological mastery with irresistible allure. Drawing inspiration from the bold and captivating designs of the 1960s and 1980s, the maison created the new Piaget Polo Perpetual Calendar Obsidian.

The watch’s obsidian dial has an inherent iridescence thanks to inclusions that formed when drops of mineral-rich sulphide liquid became trapped in the rock as it solidified. As such, no two stones are the same. On top of that, Piaget has also paired this remarkable obsidian with one of watchmaking’s most historic and emblematic complications, the perpetual calendar. Piaget’s well-known love of colored stones then shines through in the bezel lined with deep blue sapphires. These stones are set in dark claws to further enhance the dial’s magic and individuality.
Beneath the remarkable exterior beats the heart of a true horological marvel, the Manufacture Piaget 1255P ultra-thin automatic mechanical Perpetual Calendar movement with hours, minutes and moon-phases, just like on the Piaget Polo Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin. The movement is housed in a rhodium-finished 18K white gold case set with 56 brilliant-cut sapphires. Finally, the timepiece is completed with an interchangeable rubber strap.

So far this year, Maison Piaget has released an intriguing array of novelties across various collections. In what has become a rather expected outcome, the Piaget Polo Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin and the Piaget Polo Perpetual Calendar Obsidian continue to make a strong showing with their daring designs as well as its blend of heritage and modernity.
From its iconic design to its flamboyant dial colors, this stand-out-from-the-crowd unisex icon in gold, steel or colored stones is a statement of the maison’s unique watchmaking mastery, and the Piaget Polo once again shines as one of the most exciting expressions of haute horlogerie in 2023.
