Marvels of Time: Bvlgari Presents Three New Exclusive Octo Finissimo Models

From the Octo Finissimo Minute Repeater, Chronograph GMT Automatic to the Tourbillon Chronograph Skeleton Automatic, we take a closer look at three stunning watches that celebrate the Bvlgari vision of masculine elegance

Since its creation back in 2014, the Octo Finissimo collection from Bvlgari has made an indelible imprint on contemporary haute horlogerie. The Roman jeweler has presented multiple watches with technical ultra-miniaturization matched by extremely slim and understated designs, which resulted in true modern-day icons.

On that note, as a tribute to the world records and the unique style of these iconic timepieces—which surely appeal to both watch connoisseurs and devotes to Italian elegance—Bvlgari recently presented three new exclusive Octo Finissimo models that reveal the art of the storied Roman watchmaker by seamlessly merging absolute technicality, refined aesthetics, and modernity.

Octo Finissimo Chronograph GMT Automatic

The monochrome style of the Octo Finissimo collection from Bvlgari is as much a signature as its technical feats and slender lines. Take, for example, the latest Octo Finissimo Chronograph GMT Automatic. Both understated and trendy thanks to the vertically brushed silver-toned dial that accentuates this tone-on-tone look, this new sporty watch is an all-steel reinterpretation of the famous GMT automatic chronograph launched in 2019 with a world thinness record at just 3.3mm.

Moreover, as the name implies, the sporty-chic case houses the in-house BVL 318 calibre with an integrated chronograph and GMT function, making it the perfect fusion of design and technology in an ultra-thin case.

Octo Finissimo Minute Repeater

Back in 2016, Bvlgari launched a watch that definitely entered the exclusive circle of Haute Horlogerie complications: the Octo Finissimo Minute Repeater. Design-wise, with only 6.61mm for the case and 3.12mm for the movement, the watch is remarkably complex, refined, and slender. Crafted in ultra-light titanium, its octagonal case measuring 40mm in diameter opens onto a dial also in titanium—with open-worked hour-markers and small seconds—which these stylized apertures further amplify the excellent acoustic properties of titanium.

This year, the Roman jeweler revisits the bold and powerful style of this grand complication in a very contemporary version. For one, the watch now comes in sandblasted titanium with a matte blue open-worked dial and structured rubber strap. Beneath the understated design, the watch houses the ultra-thin BVL 362 calibre driving the hours, minutes, small seconds, and minute repeater functions.

Octo Finissimo Tourbillon Chronograph Skeleton Automatic

Bvlgari has broken the ultra-thin and ultra-complicated watch world records with the Italian design and mechanical performance of the Octo Finissimo year in and year out. In 2020, the storied Roman watchmaker pursued its feats in the field of horological thinness with a sixth consecutive world record achieved by the Octo Finissimo Tourbillon Chronograph Skeleton Automatic.

Amazingly, the watch’s self-winding skeleton movement with a monopusher chronograph and tourbillon functions is housed within a thickness of only 3.5mm. This time, the watch is presented in a new precious platinum interpretation. Its 43mm case—which is topped by white gold and ceramic crown—frames an elegant open-worked dial with two grey chronograph counters, entirely revealing the BVL 388 skeletonized in-house calibre and its tourbillon at 6 o’clock. To top it off, the watch face is swept over by blue hands matching the alligator leather strap secured by a platinum buckle.
