If there was ever any doubt about Kim Jones’ performance as the new head of the men’s design studio for Louis Vuitton, it’s now removed, thanks to the standing-ovation worthy debut of the French fashion house’s spring-summer 2012 collection
In line with Louis Vuitton‘s theme of travel, Jones transported himself–and with him, the whole collection–to Africa, where he spent his childhood.
Jones was mostly influenced by the Masai tribe and its traditional blankets to design the strikingly colored Damier scarves.
Adorned with Masai-inspired red and blue checks–a modification of Louis Vuitton’s iconic Damier design–and printed with the fashion house’s monogram, it’s easy to see why they’ve become the highlights of the new collection.
Bold and sleek, the scarves are definite standouts.
