As hinted by its name, the Loewe Paula’s Ibiza Collection 2020 is a visual feast for your eyes
The Spanish leather-goods house release its latest Paula’s Ibiza collection recently along with a vibrant photo series highlighting the collection. The images were taken in New Delhi by Gray Sorrenti.
Although a vacation might seem like something that’s far in the future, the photo series provide some escapism from the current situation we live in. It is a visual feast full of brightly colored clothes and accessories inspired by rave culture … which, of course, originated in Ibiza.
“This is a happy, and undeniably escapist collection conveyed through colorful and energetic images,” says Loewe creative director Jonathan Anderson. “I thought it might cheer you up.”
This new collection is a continuation of Loewe’s partnership with the boutique Paula’s Ibiza that was founded by Armin Heinemann and Stuart Rudnick in the 1970s, when the island was a much simpler place. Anderson worked through Heinemann and Rudnick’s archives and ended up creating a vibrant collection created alongside communities of artisans using special techniques and natural materials such as wild reeds woven into basket designs, spun cabuya thread from agave cactus plants and braided palm-fronds, a traditional weaving style from the Balearic islands.
