MEAN MARINE. This summer, Hermès brings the languor and warmth of the French northern seaside in the form of a fragrance with Épice Marine.
Inspired by perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena’s meeting with pirate chef Olivier Roellinger, the new fragrance highlights the correlation between tastes and smells, bringing the scents of sea spray and ocean waters to the foreground, enhanced by the distinctive aromas of spices. The classic summer staples of vetiver tonka, vanilla and rose made their way into the mix, while burning pepper, paprika basil and a mélange of marine spices add layers of complexity. Encased in a clear bottle underneath a finely crafted, saddle-stitched Thalasa blue Swift calfskin cover, the fragrance lingers on without an overpowering effect.
