BORNTOSTANDOUT

Image

KOREAN HOUSE BORNTOSTANDOUT masterfully captures the utterly refreshing sensation of stepping into a dewy forest that is still glistening after a rainshower through an olfactive delight named, quite appropriately, Hinoki Shower. Crafted by perfumer Frank Voelkl, the blend boasts an intense coniferous accord enriched by earthy undertones that comes into play as it progresses from the top tones to the underlying accords. Notes of camphor, turpentine, pine and cypress or hinoki form the top layer. In the heart of the fragrance, a duet of cedarwood and georgywood harmoniously meets thyme. The fragrance then dries down to notes of tobacco, vetiver and tree moss. BORNTOSTANDOUT is available at C&F.

Memo Paris

Image

DRAWING inspiration from the lion’s image as a symbol of royalty, Memo Paris introduces Iberian Leather as part of the Cuirs Nomades collection. The fragrance encapsulates the rich stories and heritage of Iberia, celebrating the splendor of the peninsula. The opening notes include bergamot, geranium, coriander and rosemary. What follows is a rich layer of rose, iris and white floral accords enveloping notes of cinnamon, clove and saffron. The base notes of leather, agarwood and cedar create a woody-leathery foundation, while patchouli, balsam fir, vanilla, amber and musk add depth and complexity to the blend. Unsurprisingly, Iberian Leather is especially suitable for winter nights.

Paco Rabanne

Image

Keeping the legacy of the Phantom line alive, Paco Rabanne unveiled Phantom Parfum. The brainchild of trio Anne Flipo, Dominique Ropion and Juliette Karagueuzoglou, this latest instalment in the fragrance series is informed by a robot-like bottle like its predecessor, now dressed in a black matte finish for an elegant touch. The olfactive pyramid comprises a spicy-citrusy crown, a woody aromatic heart with French lavender and a vanilla base with earthy undertones. The energy exuded by the blend comes to life through Charlie Heaton, the face of the fragrance’s campaign. The video campaign for Phantom Parfum, directed by Matt Lambert, is set to David Bowie’s “Let’s Dance” and captures the English actor’s charm in various settings.

Boss

Image

TWENTY-FIVE years ago, Boss Bottled Eau de Toilette by BOSS entered the fragrance world, reimagining modern masculinity with its fruity-woody profile. This year, the esteemed house adds a new chapter to the signature Boss Bottled line with the introduction of Boss Bottled Elixir. Crafted by Annick Menardo and Suzy Le Helley, Boss Bottled Elixir is an amber-y and woody creation marked by a rich olfactive architecture and elevated intensity. Incense and cardamom meld, heralding vetiver and patchouli that forms an earthy heart. As it unfolds, cedarwood and labdanum emerge, creating a captivating composition. To celebrate this new addition, the house launched a campaign featuring the charismatic Chris Hemsworth.

Etat Libre d’Orange

LIGHT AND heavy accords are juxtaposed in a colorful blend in the new olfactive delight by Etat Libre d’Orange called Experimentum Crucis. Perfumer Quentin Bisch introduces apple and lychee for the first spritz, with the fruity notes distinctively spiced up by a note of cumin. The trio then give way to a honeyed floral accord comprising floral notes of jasmine and rose. As the Experimentum Crucis dries down, the fragrance leaves an earthy trail of akigalawood and patchouli, with a musky hint trailing after. The eau de parfum is packed in a handsome flacon adorned with science-themed plaque. Available at C&F.

Jo MaloneImage WITH the year coming to a close and the holiday season in full swing, British perfumer Jo Malone celebrates our fondness for sweet festive delights— including the venerable ginger biscuit, a timeless Christmas staple— through the Ginger Biscuit Cologne. As its name so clearly suggests, this seasonal creation opens with a zingy burst of ginger, which is then joined by nutmeg and cinnamon that lend a touch of liveliness. Roasted hazelnut reigns at the heart of the cologne with a hint of caramel. At the base, tonka bean and vanilla join forces to create an almond-like smooth trail, while a hint of tobacco hint add to the fragrance’s unique character. With its distinctively seasonal bouquet of scents, the Ginger Biscuit Cologne promises to bring some extra festive charm.
