Peter Copping unveiled his first standalone menswear show for Lanvin with the Spring/Summer 2027 collection, marking another milestone in the direction he has been shaping since his arrival. Season after season, his work has favored quiet confidence over spectacle, relying on impeccable craftsmanship, refined tailoring and timeless elegance to redefine the maison&#8216;s identity.
Throughout the presentation, tailoring remained the collection&#8217;s foundation, though Copping softened its precision with elongated proportions and relaxed, slouchy silhouettes. His point of departure was the 1930s, drawing on Jeanne Lanvin&#8217;s vision of the cultured gentleman through the figure of Jean Cocteau.

The French writer and artist embodied an avant-garde form of dandyism that felt intellectual rather than ornamental. He popularized the sweater-under-suit combination, mixed patterns with instinctive confidence and was rarely seen without a crisp shirt, neatly knotted tie and a jacket draped with studied nonchalance.
Those signatures resurfaced throughout the collection, not as nostalgic recreations but as contemporary reinterpretations. Layering became a defining gesture, with short-sleeved sweaters worn over long-sleeved knits to give familiar staples a fresh sense of dimension.

Elsewhere, the classic shirt was paired with lightweight parkas, introducing a more relaxed, modern masculinity without sacrificing refinement. The result was a wardrobe that balanced the house&#8217;s tailoring heritage with Copping&#8217;s evolving vision, where craftsmanship and ease existed in equal measure.
Rather than pursuing a radical reset, Copping continues to rebuild Lanvin through careful evolution. The Spring/Summer 2027 collection reaffirmed that the maison&#8216;s future may lie not in chasing fashion&#8217;s loudest moments but in refining the timeless qualities that have defined it for more than a century.
