The Creative Director of French couture brand Lanvin, Alber Elbaz, once stated that he’d never do a mass-market collection with Lanvin. But as we know, things change. “I have said in the past that I would never do a mass-market collection, but what intrigued me was the idea of H&M going luxury rather than Lanvin going [mass-market],” Elbaz told the press recently. Indeed, Swedish mass-market chain H&M and Lanvin have tied the knot and the fashion world is abuzz about the collection, for both men and women. The men’s collection was largely created by Lanvin’s celebrated designer Lucas Ossendrijver. Among the men’s accessories, there are also bow ties, one of Elbaz’s trademarks. The nearest H&M to Jakarta is in Hong Kong, but expect lots of pieces from this one-off collection to show up on E-Bay and other such sites as people buy out the stores and re-sell the clothes.
