Lanvin highlights French elegance in its Fall/Winter 2023 Collection

Lanvin’s Fall/Winter 2023 collection presents a rediscovery of French elegance and exuberance, the very soul of the maison

For Lanvin’s Fall/Winter 2023 collection, Bruno Sialeli delves into the past to discover inspiration for the brand’s current-day aesthetic. As Lanvin is the oldest fashion house still in operation in Paris, Sialelli unearths the brand’s history and re-imagines elements from the 1940s and 1980s, giving them new treatments to make a timeless yet simultaneously contemporary collection.

Other than that, Sialelli also draws inspiration from the Renaissance and even medieval times, which was a source of inspiration for Jeanne Lanvin herself. Incorporating a mixture of historical references can be tricky, but Sialelli did it exceptionally well as he blended the various ages into a cohesive and harmonious whole.

There are ’80s studs that imitate polka dots from earlier eras, wool and silk rich in color and texture reminiscent of the 18th century, along with velvet which adds a level of decadence to it. Most looks from the collection consist of a muted color palette accented with teal, rich burgundy and gold, another nod to the medieval era.

The men’s collection was classy but with playful touches of mohair and croc-embossed leather. Shoe silhouettes are blurred between athletic and formal. Overall, the Fall/Winter 2023 collection is a celebration of everything that makes Lanvin unique, exploring the house’s rich history while creating designs that are relevant for today’s fashion-forward consumers.
