The new collaborative collection between Lacoste and National Geographic celebrates the beauty of the natural world
French sports-luxe brand Lacoste has recently teamed up with the historic conservation-focused institution National Geographic on a capsule collection that combines Lacoste’s timeless silhouettes and celebrated fits with the rich, majestic prints and forms of the animal kingdom. The central inspiration for the exclusive range of menswear, womenswear and childrenswear comes from the National Geographic Photo Ark project that was led by award-winning photographer and National Geographic Fellow Joel Sartore. The Photo Ark is a long-term effort to document every species living in the world’s zoos, aquariums and wildlife sanctuaries, and this new collaboration aims to celebrate the diversity and splendor of the animal kingdom.
Lacoste has meticulously gone through Sartore’s existing archives of over 10,500 species before settling the spotlight on four key animals and their vibrant stories and exceptional beauty for the collection: the Grevy’s Zebra, the Green and Black Poison Dart Frog, the Halloween Pennant Dragonfly and the Jaguar.
Each of these majestic species are interpreted as graphics and prints in the form of dazzling coats, parka, T-shirts, classic Lacoste polo shirts, various accessories and even underwear. And, as a nod to the way animals transform and camouflage themselves, the padded jacket that is available in Dragonfly and Frog prints are reversible, able to be switch effortlessly from energetic animal print to classic navy.
All materials in this collection are 100-percent obtained from recycled polyester. All footwear feature natural rubber outsoles whilethe polos are made from natural cotton. The Lacoste x National Geographic collection will be available from December 1 in selected Lacoste stores in Jakarta, Surabaya and Bali.
