Meet Ricky Regal by Bruno Mars. A new collection by Lacoste brings the world of Ricky Regal to life through the lens of the brand’s iconic blend of sport and luxury. With optical and graphic prints, luminous and vibrant shades, silky and soft materials, the collection is designed by Bruno Mars for those looking to shine.
This partnership marks the first occasion that the singer has applied his creative touch to a lifestyle range. The key of this assortment is to seamlessly blend elements of sport and luxury, all with a 1970s-inspired aesthetic and feel. The Lacoste X Ricky Regal collection features a range of retro-styled T-shirts, tracksuits, footwear and accessories inspired by Miami nightlife and the shared euphoria of singing and dancing to live music.
Highlights of the collection include relaxed sweatsuits, oversized shorts and graphic tees that incorporate the iconic Lacoste crocodile logo with a stylized “Ricky Regal” font. The classic Lacoste polo also gets an update, with bold new prints and a chic velvet version too.
Lacoste said that the discussions around the partnership started more than two years ago, beginning “organically with conversations amongst mutual friends and colleagues.” According to Rolling Stone, the brand said that Mars had a clear vision for Ricky Regal, his designer alter ego, from the start. “Bruno was passionate about Lacoste x Ricky Regal being unique, fresh, bold, luxurious and fun,” Rolling Stones quotes. “Bruno had a very clear vision of what he wanted this to be and was deeply involved every step of the way, leading the creative process closely with Louis (Trotter, Lacoste’s creative director). The dynamic duo complimented and challenged one another in the best way possible.”
As for the name, the singer explains that when he is on stage, his name is Bruno Mars. While when making lavish luxurious garments, he goes by the name Ricky Regal.
Lacoste x Ricky Regal delivers a seductive palette of strong colors: mustard yellow, petrol blue, eggplant purple, coral red and tie-dye. These bring about a vibrant state of mind boosted by Lacoste’s sportswear expertise. Velvet, silk and cotton fabrics with impeccable finishes create a fluid vibe, with pieces to wear on their own or as a complete look.
“With Lacoste x Ricky Regal, Bruno has created a luxury sportswear brand that bridges that Lacoste sportswear heritage and his own seductive style,” says Trotter.
The first Lacoste x Ricky Regal collection launched on March 5, through a global network of 18 exclusive retailers and are available since March 8 at selected Lacoste boutiques and at the brand’s website.
