Join the #McQueenCreators Challenge Initiative

Engage your creative side and get a chance to be featured on McQueen’s social media accounts.

#McQueenCreators is an initiative by Alexander McQueen to inspire creativity during these challenging times. The British fashion house invites everyone to indulge in their artistic side while social distancing through a challenge to sketch, color or paint a particularly ornate piece from its collection.

This week, which marks the fourth week of the initiative, Alexander McQueen is inviting its followers to draw a silhouette, to find a sketchbook and chose materials—charcoal, pencils, pastels, paint—then freely interpret their favorite look. Sarah Burton has selected a few images from the women’s spring/summer 2020 collection and the men’s autumn/winter 2020 lineup as the inspiration.

London-based artist Howard Tangye, known for portraits in different mediums and who is also Head of BA Womenswear at Central Saint Martins for seventeen years, has taken part in the project and shared his expertise in a tutorial, shown on the Alexander McQueen YouTube channel on Friday, April 24. Tangye has chosen to paint the ivory tailored double-breasted wool overcoat and trousers printed with an inky black thistle and over-embroidered with hammered silver bullion thread from the men’s fall/winter 2020 collection.

Participants can post their final creations on Instagram and tag @AlexanderMcQueen #McQueenCreators. Selected submissions will be shared on the Alexander McQueen Instagram feed.
