With the Portugieser Chronograph Ceratanium, IWC Schaffhausen introduces the first all-black iteration of its beloved chronograph, cloaking the design’s classical proportions in a modern material that blends titanium’s lightness with ceramic-like resilience.
At the center of the watch is Ceratanium, IWC’s proprietary material that combines the lightness and robustness of titanium with a surface hardness comparable to ceramic. For the first time in the Portugieser Chronograph line, the entire case including the crown and pushers is rendered in this matte-black material. The look continues with a deep black dial, tonal appliqués and a matching rubber strap, creating a seamless and contemporary aesthetic.

Yet the all-black execution lends the watch a distinctly modern presence, shifting the character of the classic chronograph toward something more restrained and quietly assertive.
Limited to 1,500 pieces, the Portugieser Chronograph Ceratanium demonstrates how a design icon can evolve without losing its essential identity.
