Hoping to win his third triple Olympic gold, Usain Bolt is looking to make 2016 a memorable year. “I want to finish on a real Big Bang,” he says. Thanks to Hublot, Bolt is already making it happen, even before the Olympics start on this Friday
A partner of Bolt since 2010, Hublot is celebrating the iconic athlete’s milestone year with a release of not one, but two limited edition versions of the Big Bang Unico Usain Bolt timepiece.
The Gold version symbolizes his objective on this year’s Olympic Games. The case and bezel are finished in 3N 18k yellow gold, with gold calfskin strap sewn onto rubber. Only 100 pieces will be available.
The All Black version is adorned with the colors of Jamaica’s national flag, a tribute to Bolt’s home country. The bezel of the watch is adorned with gold-colored screws to represent Bolt’s six gold Olympic medals he’s won so far. Only 250 pieces of this ceramic watch will be available.
Each of the two versions also comes with a 45mm case and lightning bolt-shaped second hands. The sapphire case back is transparent, revealing the UNICO manufacture movement inside.
“He is so much more than an ambassador; he is an example,a model who inspires us. A symbol that transmits the values of success: determination, courage, hard work, talent and humility,” comments Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of Hublot. “As far as we’re concerned, he has already won.”
