Hot, affordable smartphone from Huawei

Although it may not be a headline grabber like the new iPhone 4S or Google phone, the Huawei Honor smartphone—from the up-and-coming tech brand headquartered in Shenzhen, China—packs a lot of power that’s often underrated.

The 1.4-GHz single-core-powered Android device comes with a 4-inch touch-screen, DLNA abilities and an 8-megapixel camera. Most interesting of all, though, is the battery life.

The 1900mAh long-lasting battery may well be the antidote to the criticism that Android devices use up power too rapidly. Huawei recently added another upgrade in the form of Android’s new 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. This update came less than a month after the release of Ice Cream Sandwich’s source code, and well in advance of some other manufacturers.

For those who think iPhones are too pricey or too mainstream, this less-than-US$400 gadget could be just the ticket for you.
