For Hermès, the saying “patience is a virtue” has never been truer than it is now, when the brand unveils In the Pocket Only Watch
The timepiece has come a long way with a journey that started back in 1912, when Jacqueline Hermès received a pocket-watch holder from her father. A century later, the sentimental gift inspired In the Pocket, a pocket watch that may be transformed at will into a wristwatch.
Flash-forward to mid-2015. It was announced that the 6th biannual Only Watch charity auction would take place on November 7 in Geneva. No less than 44 brands, Hermès included, have developed exclusive models for the event. For the French brand, the choice to recreate In the Pocket, an icon in the making, is an easy one. The very special In the Pocket Only Watch was then born, although not without dedication, hard work and “infinite patience.”
Created in the La Montre Hermès workshop in Switzerland, the leather that makes the straps must go through a series of processes that include, among other things, drying, layer cutting, sewing, hammering, dyeing and polishing. What results is a skillfully crafted pocket watch with a rose gold case, a black dial, a leather cord and a leather strap.
The 6th edition of Only Watch auction will be held to benefit Duchenne muscular dystrophy research. Before the auction, there will be a promotional world tour, starting in Monaco and continuing with stops in Europe, the United States and Asia.
