The age of normcore and streetwear is over. That’s according to popstar, and dare we say, modern menswear icon Harry Styles.
When Harry launched his solo career, not only did he release a new sound, he also radically changed his image. His style quickly shifted from cute, boy-next-door to unconventional cool.
Gender fluid silhouettes, flamboyant colors, loud prints, and 70s-heavy aesthetic pretty much defined his self-titled debut album era. His bold looks made headlines—broke the internet! So much so that he earned major fashion ad campaigns with Italian mega brand Gucci.
Could this be the directive of his record label? Could this be the genius work of his stylists? Or maybe it’s just his personal style. Whatever it is, it works. And we do hope it stays because menswear needs new life. It needs eccentricity, not banality. And if this is how or where the 25-year-old star is taking the future of menswear, we’re 100% on board.
Harry is preparing to drop his second album and go on a world tour anytime soon, and with these come killer looks after killer looks. Here’s a timeline of Harry Styles’s take on modern menswear.
