Go Dutch at The Dutch, Jakarta

Gastropubs are popping up around the capital like mushrooms in a monsoon, but The Dutch (18 Parc Place Tower E GF. SCBD, Jl. Jend. Sudirman Kav. 52-53; +62 21 515 2828; thedutchjakarta.com) enters the fray with the kind of culinary experience that will leave patrons satisfied and hankering for more

Three parts of the newly opened eatery particularly caught our eye: The bar area with eight types of beer on tap, kitchen-side seating and a glass cooler filled with homemade sausages and other cured meats.

And as the establishment’s name implies, there’s an unmistakable touch of Dutch cuisine in the menu, courtesy of chef Chris Moes. There’s a classic erwtensoep (thick pea soup) and rookworst (smoked sausage) along with with plenty of more contemporary offerings, such as wagyu rib-eyes steaks and the chef’s prized braised lamb in pastry.
