From structured suits to essential accessories and more—all with a distinctively contemporary outlook
Maison Givenchy has recently introduced its Fall 2022 Pre-Collection consisting of both men’s and women’s ready-to-wear pieces. Through the collection, Creative Director Matthew M. Williams consolidates his message for Givenchy by revisiting its tailoring heritage and exploring house archetypes through a contemporary lens.
The Fall 2022 Pre-Collection continues the experimentations with proportion and scale seen on the runway of Spring/Summer 2022, as everyday statement pieces for women and men focus on nuanced volumes, signature hardware, craft and innovative techniques.
“I am really focused on exploring Givenchy’s heritage while also looking toward the future I believe fashion is relevant when it reflects what it means to live today there’s a constant tension between everyday reality and the precision, elegance and extravagance of the couture tradition,” said Williams.
Key themes for the entire collection feature specially developed hardware signatures, creating a visual bridge from ready to wear to accessories. In the same spirit, the new “Art” denim collection showcases research into technique gauze overlays or time intensive printed, destroyed, bleached, and overdyed effects inject pieces with extra soul. Special treatments like lasered monograms and bleached jacquard give denim depth and reinforce this emerging Givenchy signature.
For men, structured suiting with concealed buttons seamlessly incorporates a detachable, hooded underpiece Outerwear such as a nylon coat or an ample trench fastens with hardware in dark finishes. Two original men’s accessories—the G Zip bumbag and camera bag—combine practicality and distinctive urban style. The season’s star shoe, the TK 360 is an innovative, fully knitted sneaker made using a technology that lets the wearer walk directly on the knit. As a final touch, Givenchy caps complete the silhouette.
