INTERGALACTIC MULTITASKER. As the tablet wars heat up, the iPad is slowly but steadily losing ground to a number of varied challengers.
The latest volley from Korean tech company Samsung (which is currently in a cutthroat legal battle with Apple) is the Galaxy Note 10.1, which finally breaks down the multitasking barrier that has so long eluded tablets. The “multiscreen” feature allows you to do things like watch a movie and search for the name of the actors without having to stop playback, which is possible thanks to the device’s powerful 1.4 GHz quad core processor. Another impressive feature is the tablet’s Shape and Formula Match software, which will automatically recognize things like scribbled math equations and sketchy graphs and transform them into neatly organized figures.
