COMBO COMPUTING. The first PadFone proved the combination could work, though it had some design flaws that kept it from reaching it’s full potential. The PadFone 2 looks to build upon what worked before while updated hardware allows it to overcome old stumbling blocks.
It consists of an Android smartphone, this time with a speedy quad-core processor, and a completely redesigned tablet. When the 4.7” smartphone is docked into the PadFone 2 Station, it becomes a lightweight but fully featured, 10.1” tablet. Apps are seamlessly optimised on-the fly to support both tablet and phone modes, with an instant transition between the two different screen sizes. The new Padfone features a significantly reduced thickness and weight. The phone’s new highercapacity 2140mAh battery provides up to 16 hours 3G talk-time and 13 hours Wi-Fi web browsing, and the docking station’s internal battery has enough capacity to recharge the docked PadFone 2 three times over.
