<h2>LET THE NEW ERA BEGIN. The Macallan unveiled the fourth release in its innovative Edition Series that embodies the craftsmanship of their new distillery. Riga Ramadhan reports from Singapore</h2>

This new limited edition whisky embodies the pioneering design and the craftsmanship of the new The Macallan Distillery and demonstrates the mastery of whisky-making by the estate since 1824. This fourth release in the innovative Edition Series explores the whisky-making process, which exposes the detail of its creation for true transparency and continues the diverse story of The Macallan’s exceptional oak casks and the spirits that are matured in them.

This particular Edition is a celebration of The Macallan’s heritage as the brand now enters an exciting new era with the creation of two structural masterpieces: the remarkable Edition No. 4 and also the magnificent new distillery in Speyside, Scotland. The launch event for this new special edition whisky was held at the Infinite Studios, Singapore, which was transformed to mirror the lush of Speyside’s landscape, while taking inspiration from the brand’s foundation.
<h3>Chapter 1: The Journey</h3>
On a sensational journey to discover Edition No. 4, we were welcomed into a reimagined space that offered a teaser of the new The Macallan Distillery. A model of the building took center-stage and drew everyone’s attention to its marvelous design that embodies the brand’s care, passion, and superior craftsmanship, while the construction bears testament to the breadth and depth of The Macallan in creating exceptional single malt whiskies.

Fresh from the experience of the breezy, cool countryside of Scotland, guests were then led to immerse themselves in the brand’s rich heritage and the foundation stones for its character: The Six Pillars. Greeted by a hanging curved roof that is reminiscent of the undulating timber roof structure of the new distillery, located near the brand’s iconic spiritual home in the Easter Elchies estate, we got our first taste of the new Edition No. 4.
As the party continued well into the night, we were also delighted by the dynamic and intricate aerial installation of Edition No. 4 bottles with delicately crafted teardrop-shaped flasks cradling the whisky.
<h3>Chapter 2: The Star</h3>
While the Edition No. 1 and Edition No. 2 highlighted the influence each cask has on the taste and flavor of the whisky and the Edition No. 3 provided insight into the aromas, the Edition No. 4 reveals the structure of the whisky, drawing parallels on how The Macallan Distillery is constructed and showcasing the lengths The Macallan will go to for its whiskies.

It explores the whisky making process, exposing the detail of how it manages to create true transparency and continues the diverse story of The Macallan’s exceptional oak casks as well as the skill and experience behind the selection of the perfect casks so as to reveal the flavor, aroma and character of the whisky. The Master Distiller of Macallan has handpicked these casks to reflect a modern flavor profile while staying true to The Macallan’s tradition of maturation using only the finest sherry-seasoned oak casks.
“This is a truly spectacular single malt, delivering a rounded honey and sweet toffee aroma and an intense burst of nutmeg with wood spices on the palate,” explains Nick Savage, The Macallan’s Master Distiller. “A powerful and invigorating mouth feel, as if standing on top of the new distillery roof in the Speyside breeze. A combination of carefully selected sherry-seasoned oak casks brings out unique refreshing qualities and delivers an unforgettable whisky experience.”
<h3> Chapter 3: The Finale</h3>
The Macallan unveiled the Edition No. 4 while enveloping its guests in an immersive experience of the Speyside’s natural environment and its rich heritage. “The Edition No. 4 draws parallels with how The Macallan Distillery is constructed and showcases the lengths the brand goes to when creating single malt,” says Keith Nair, Regional Brand Ambassador for The Macallan. “Together with the opening of the new home of The Macallan, this launch marks yet another milestone for the brand this year as we take a bold step into a new era.”
For sure, with its natural color of burnished copper, the Edition No. 4 is a distinct whisky that pushes the boundaries of innovation and reflects the passion, traditions and craftsmanship that goes into the art of the perfect cask selection.
