Ferdinand Berthoud’s Chronomètre FB 3SPC expands the world of mechanical timekeeping

This year, the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) Jury awarded the “Chronometry Prize” to Chronométrie Ferdinand Berthoud for its impressive Chronom ètre FB 3SPC. As the third pillar of the brand’s collections— inspired by and following the tradition of the famed 18th-century watchmaker for whom the brand was named—it approaches the core theme of precision from a new angle. Of particular note, this timepiece comes with a novel construction and is driven by the Calibre FB-SPC, the first and only mechanical movement to date equipped with a cylindrical hairspring to be officially chronometer-certified by the Official Swiss Chronometry Testing Institute (COSC).
Only a few dozen pieces are made each year, as they are entirely crafted and decorated by hand before being adjusted and checked following the demanding standards of Chronom étrie Ferdinand Berthoud’s workshops in Fleurier.
