Hennessy, the world’s best-selling Cognac teams up for the second time with Felipe Pantone, the Argentinean-born, Valencia-based artist to unveil its latest Collector’s Edition 2019 Hennessy Very Special Limited Edition by Felipe Pantone.
The Hennessy Very Special sits in the middle of the artwork on a customizable display sculpture as if it was floating, dressed in white with pixelated blocks of color. It also offers a unique opportunity to enhance the Hennessy Very Special experience; as a piece of configurable art, the carafe is surrounded by moveable rods that may be interchanged, inversed and reconfigured as the collector pleases, like a colorful, ever-changing urban skyline.
“I wanted to show how Hennessy lives intensely in the present. It may be a heritage brand but it’s bursting with dynamism,” said Felipe Pantone. “It may not be obvious at first, but there is a link between Hennessy Very Special and the configurable art aesthetic. It’s my way of illustrating that, just as you make Hennessy Very Special your own, this artwork is a piece that calls for the collector’s participation,” he added.
Through his latest collaboration with Hennessy, Pantone tries to pay homage to the late artist Jesús Rafael Soto, who he shares the same South American origins and aesthetic spirit.
Felipe Pantone is the latest acclaimed artist to join Hennessy’s art initiative archive program slash famed artist collaborations, following previous installments with the likes of Vhils, KAWS and Futura among others. Available at an undisclosed “very limited” amount, the 2019 Hennessy Very Special Collector’s Edition by Felipe Pantone will be available for purchase via Clos19, LVMH’s e-commerce site, at $ 1.500 USD.
