EXTREMELY MANLY. When Bulgari decided to launch its new fragrance, Bulgari Man Extreme, the Greek-Italian luxury company decided they needed a famous face that embodied the bold, masculine nature of the cologne. In the end, it chose rugged looking Australian actor Eric Bana to front the advertising campaign, comprising both a series of ads shot by Peter Lindbergh and a short movie filmed by Italian movie director Matteo Garrone.
In a press release, Bulgari explained their choice: “A man of great character, Eric Bana is an accomplished actor who has performed across a wide spectrum of heroic roles, perfectly embodying the core values of the Bulgari Man Extrreme – charm, power and strength.” Shot in Rome, the dramatic black and white images and video channel classic Italian cinema with a look that is equal parts imposing, classic and elegant. Matteo Garrone’s signature neo-realistic style heightens the starkness of the Roman landscape, This powerful scenery is further emphasized by the suggestive rhythm of the music track “Theme of Rome” by Italian composer Daniele Luppi and musician Danger Mouse.
