BILINGUAL CRAFTMANSHIP. Stefano Pilati, Ermenegildo Zegna Couture’s head designer, seamlessly merges Italian design with Japanese craftsmanship in the Made in Japan project
He collaborates with local artisans to use Japanese fabrics and to incorporate their sartorial techniques into the refined clothing pieces from the Italian brand. The special collection is divided into four sections: tailoring, casual, denim and accessories, each consisting of unique offerings designed with painstaking attention to detail. To further highlight the crosscultural nature of the collaboration, the brand invited contemporary photographer Takashi Homma to shoot five Japanese personalities from five different fields to wear the pieces. These include actor Ryo Kase, architect Shohei Shigematsu, chef Zaiyu Hasegawa, creative director Kaie Murakami and musician Keiichiro Shibuya.
