The Australian brand’s newest offerings introduce a new kind of utility that remains as stylish as ever
bassike’s 2021 pre collection presents a new utility was born out of necessity amid a global pandemic and during nationwide lockdown. Creative director Deborah Sams sat down to rethink what the brand encapsulates, which then resulted in a collection to inspire optimism and functionality. There is emphasis on the idea of ethically-made pieces throughout the collection. This point has always been important to the brand, along with its continued focus on garments designed and made on Australian soil.
A tonal palette is woven through the facets of each piece, encouraging not only the cohesiveness that is necessary in developing a collection, but also leaning into a staple state of mind, willing each piece to be layered with the next, and worn time and time again. The warm, earthy, neutral palette chosen for the season furthers the idea of functionality, which has been built into the collection for endless styling options.
All in all, this pre-collection for 2021 solidifies that there is balance to be found amid a time when the world feels bereft of it. Designed with the bassike DNA in mind, as well as the original customer, the loyalists and the optimists, PC21 brings this balance to life in a quiet whisper that fills the gaps of modern dressing.
